The idea of Karma Children’s Home came to Delhi native and founder Malkit Singh, through his charity work feeding the hungry on the streets of Delhi. He was deeply touched by the suffering of orphan street children and in 2012, he began to help by housing and supporting 3 orphan children. Fast forward to 2023, Karma Children’s home now provides housing and support to 72 children found in destitute circumstances on the street with enormous daily risk of harm. Local authorities continue to identify and ask to place new children every year at Karma Children’s Home. The typical age of a newly identified street child is between 4-6 years old. The housing can serve as a transit point for children or as a permanent home. Some children have been living at Karma Children’s Home for as long as 10 years.
